More About My Family Child Care: I have been a licensed provider in Shakopee, MN since 1978. In the past few years, my husband has been my helper when he is not driving school bus. We have four children who grew up in childcare and ten grandchildren, some still in my childcare at this time. I believe that my many years of experience and training have helped me to provide the quality, loving, nurturing care that every child deserves. Shirley’s Child Care does not provide a highly structured atmosphere. I do not believe that is at all beneficial to children. This is our home; your child shares it with us. I strive to provide a home environment where children have opportunities to choose activities; in this way, she/he is free to explore, a freedom that helps develop a positive attitude toward learning and the world around her/him. I do offer a preschool program and both group and individual activities are encouraged. Through these activities children can grow socially and emotionally, enhance language and literacy, develop positive attitudes, curiosity and creativity; develop an interest in music and the arts, math and science and enhance their physical and motor skills. I provide books, paper and writing tools, craft and art supplies, play dough, manipulative toys, puzzles, pegs and boards, lacing cards and beads, stacking and nesting toys, measuring instruments and blocks of all kinds. We have puppets, dolls and stuffed animals, music and musical toys, dramatic play areas, construction toys and other vehicles indoors and out, a fenced back yard with climbing equipment, riding toys, sand box, and water play, etc. Other Comments: Updated 06-08-2017
